More about Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe is nicknamed "Zim" or "Zimba" by most Zimbabweans in informal speech. It is a nation that prides itself on education, respect for elders and culture.

Zimbabwe is a landlocked country located in Southern Africa and bordered on the East by

Mozambique, Zambia is on the North-West side, Botswana on the South-West and South Africa on the Southern part.

Zimbabwe is home to one of the World's Seven Natural World Wonders, the Victoria Falls, which it shares with Zambia. The falls are also the widest Natural falls in the world!

One of Zim's oldest monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage site is also how Zimbabwe got its name. Zimbabwe came from "Dzimba Dzemabwe" which means "Houses of Stone" referring to an ancient Shona city built from boulders with no mortar to hold them together but it has lasted for centuries !

The Flag: The green stands for the land, the crops etc which made it Africa's bread basket. The yellow stands for the mines, the mineral wealth of the nation. The red stands for the blood that was shed to obtain Zimbabwe's independance. The black stands for the black majority, the white stands for peace and the Zimbabwe bird is the symbol of the connection to the Great Zimbabwe Kingdom .
